Introduced the temperature range of double-layer glass cups

We all know that double glazed glasses are found in almost every household. However, we still hope that everyone can know some common knowledge. Just like double glazed glasses, they have better temperature resistance than regular cups, but have a certain numerical range. Let’s take a look at the temperature range of double glazed glasses.

A regular glass cup is a poor conductor of heat. When a portion of the glass on the inner wall suddenly becomes hot (cold), the inner cup obviously expands the heat, but the outer layer is not intense enough and expands less, resulting in a large temperature difference between parts of the glass. Moreover, due to the objects of thermal expansion and contraction, the thermal expansion of different parts of the glass cup is uneven, and the difference between them is too large. May cause glass breakage.

At the same time, glass cups are a very hard material with slow heat transfer speed. The thicker the glass, the faster the temperature rises due to the influence of temperature difference, and the easier it is to break. That is to say, the temperature difference between boiling water and the glass cup is too large, causing the glass cup to crack. Therefore, the temperature of thicker glass cups is generally between -5-70 degrees Celsius, or before pouring boiling water, add some cold water and then some hot water, wait for the cup to warm up, then pour out the water and add boiling water.

The characteristic of borosilicate glass cups is that their coefficient of thermal expansion is extremely low, about one-third of that of ordinary glass, which is not sensitive to temperature and does not have the common phenomenon of thermal expansion and contraction of ordinary objects. Therefore, they have high temperature resistance and high thermal stability. It can be used to hold hot water.

Do not use tempered glass cups on the market as high-temperature resistant cups. Tempered glass is used at the same temperature as regular glass, usually below 70 degrees Celsius, and should be used with caution.

The above is an introduction to the temperature range of double-layer glass cups, -5-70 degrees Celsius. Generally, we can ensure that its low temperature does not exceed this range, so we need to pay more attention to high temperatures. In addition, the high temperature of tempered glass should not exceed 70 degrees Celsius. In daily use, it is also necessary to pay more attention.
